Tuesday Night. 9:30 PM:

My friend Bryan gets a call for Rudy asking for an emergency photo shoot for his band that night. They needed a quality photo for the Hard Rock website by early the next morning. Why? They wouldn’t tell Rudy, but he had his suspicions..

Some of my friends from church are in band called Rudy Vaughn. They’ve been in a battle of the bands contest with The Hard Rock Cafe for the past month. For the last 2 weeks, they were one of the final 5 across the entire country to win this contest. It’s kind of a big deal, because the cool thing is if they win, they get flown out to London to play on the same stage with Dave Matthews and Bruce Springsteen. My church, the community around it, and Atlanta have been pushing the online voting. All of the major news networks have been interviewing them, and everybody and their mom has been on Facebook pushing people to vote.

When Hard Rock called Rudy, they told him “we can’t tell you if you’ve won or not, but we need a picture for the website tomorrow morning, in 12 hours.” Hmm..

So anyways, Rudy naturally called my friend Bryan Scott, who in my humble opinion, is one of the best photographers in Atlanta. Bryan finds me at Water’s Edge a few minutes after the phone call and asks if I wanna come along on the photo mission.

A late night photo shoot with the photographer I esteem to be like and an almost-famous band? Yes.

And to end the dramatic story, It turned out that Hard Rock didn’t need a professional band photo for the runner ups. Congratulations guys!
